"...so that the man of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work."
II Timothy 3:17 NIV
You are welcome at Westcliff Bible Church! Where the commitment is to teaching, explaining and applying the eternal truths of Scripture. Westcliff's ministry stresses verse-by-verse Bible teaching. We believe that a relevant knowledge of God's Word will enable a personal daily walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dr. Steven Waterhouse has served as pastor of Westcliff Bible Church since 1985. He has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Master of Theology in Hebrew and Greek from Capital Seminary near Washington, D.C., as well as undergraduate degrees in social sciences from Spring Arbor College and from Grand Rapids Baptist College.
Pastor Waterhouse is the author of the book " Strength For His People," which offers a Biblical perspective on mental illnesses and other types of family problems. He continues to exercise this ministry from Westcliff, evangelizing and nurturing the relatives of those with severe mental illness.
Dr. Waterhouse has written several other books that cover topics from "Eternal Security" to the Sanctity of Life. He recently completed Not by Bread Alone, an eighteen year effort that is now a 575 page outlined guide to Bible Doctrine from the unique perspective of the church, not the classroom. All of his books are available at www.webtheology.com
The Churches founded by the Apostles were all independent. We believe that it is best that each church be free to govern itself locally without external control. Many Bible Churches began in the 1930's as a reaction of liberal theology being taught in main line denomations. Often, the early Bible Churches came out of Congregational denominations which has been brought to America by the Pilgrims.
Bible Churches comprise one of the few major groups of churches which hold a strong dispensational, pretribulational position. They stand for the historic conservative Christian faith. Scripture is used as a text for every Christian doctrine and it is the source for all educational ministries of the church. The strength of the Bible Church is its focus on a deeper level of teaching.
What do we believe?
Statement of Faith
Westcliff Bible Church adheres to a conservative and evangelical doctrinal position. Our primary beliefs include the divine inspiration of the bible, both the Old and New Testaments; the creation of man by the direct act of God; the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; His identification as the Son of God; his vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood to save men from sin; the new birth through regeneration by the Holy Spirit; the gift of eternal life by the Grace of God.
Westcliff Bible Church also believes that every Born Again Christian is sealed by the Holy Spirit "Until the Day of Redemption" only because of the Grace of God, the imminent, premillenial return of Christ, the ordinances of baptism by means of immersion; and the Lord's Supper in remembrance of our Lord.
