(Home town of Palo Duro State Park and West Texas A&M)

The wagon was built by the Mitchell and Lewis Wagon Company, Racine, Wisconsin (also known as Mitchell wagons or “M” wagons).  They were sold by the John Deere dealerships of the time.  The wagon dates to the late 1800’s or early 1900’s, and was originally built as a farm wagon.  It came to Texas from the Glen Hayms Horse Farm south of Des Moines, Iowa, was purchased from the Bryson Trading Post, Bryson Texas.  Mr. and Mrs. August Hesse III and Mr. and Mrs. Jason Hesse, of Canyon, Texas, outfitted it as a chuck wagon.  The chuck box was built to fit the new rebuild wagon by Mr. Wayne Schneider and Bill Thompson of  Amarillo, Texas.  The wagon is headquartered at the UH OH Ranch, Canyon, Texas and used primarily for competition, and parties.
